Grounds Maintenance Worker
Job Description
FT Recruitment are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operative to join one of our clients based in Measham. This role involves maintaining Parish Council land, properties, play areas, cemeteries, and public open spaces to a high standard throughout the seasonal period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and general grounds maintenance
- Empty bins across Parish Council sites
- Carry out daily visual inspections of play areas and recreation grounds, reporting any defects
- Support minor repairs to play equipment and site furniture where appropriate
- Assist in the upkeep of cemetery grounds, including grass cutting, weed control, and general maintenance
- Help prepare ashes burial plots as required
- Maintain village planters, benches, memorials, noticeboards, and open spaces
- Safely operate Council vehicles, tools, and machinery
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and Council policies
- Report hazards, defects, and accidents promptly
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required
Requirements:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or outdoor manual work
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong communication skills when dealing with colleagues and the public
- Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to work
